Los Angeles based composer/arranger/band leader Brian Eisenberg is the recipient of the ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award, the Downbeat Magazine Student Music Award, the ASCAP Plus Awards, the John Philip Sousa Award, and the Palomar Council Reflections Award. Brian is a two-time winner and artist judge for the Independent Music Awards and a Phoenix Mayor’s Arts Awards Nominee. He was a finalist in the International Composition Competition "Maurice Ravel", the Silesian Jazz Festival International Composition Competition, and an Honorable Mention in Beta Omicron’s 5th Annual Call for Scores. His music is published with the UNC Jazz Press, Imagine Music, and Hamar Percussion Publications.
Brian directs the 17-piece Brian Eisenberg Jazz Orchestra, a contemporary big band comprised of some of the finest musicians in the world, including Vinnie Colaiuta, Bob Sheppard, Christian Jacob, Andy Martin, and Brandon Fields. The band’s debut album "Sense of Gratitude" won the Independent Music Award for best jazz song and was nominated for best jazz album and best funk/fusion/jam album. It was also nominated for a Hollywood Music in Media Award and is a best seller on CD Baby.
Brian's second album, "Life Changes", also a best seller on CD Baby, won the Independent Music Award for best jazz song and is also nominated for a Hollywood Music in Media Award. It was also named one of the top big band records of 2017 by Fuji Records alongside Christian McBride, Vince Mendoza, and Sammy Nestico. Both the band’s albums have received rave reviews and international radio airplay on several stations, and the band’s YouTube videos have received tens of thousands of views.
Brian's music has also been performed by other bands including the Cologne Blue Art Orchestra (Germany), Studio One Jazz Orchestra (Japan), Glendale Community College Jazz Band, Scottsdale Community College Jazz Band, Point Loma Nazarene University Jazz Band, and the San Diego State University Jazz Orchestra. Brian's music is now also being used for study at Berklee College of Music.
Brian graduated with distinction and Pi Kappa Lambda honors from San Diego State University where he studied composition with David Ward-Steinman (Aaron Copland, Darius Milhaud, Milton Babbit), and Rick Helzer (Clare Fischer). Brian has arranged music for many high school and middle school bands and percussion sections, as well as writing many arrangements for cruise ship bands. Brian has also been accepted into the BMI Jazz Composer’s Workshop “A” group, and was also personally invited to audition for the United States Navy Band in Washington DC as an arranger out of hundreds of applicants.
